Tennis Memphis (TM) is the headquarters of the GreatBase Tennis (GBT) curriculum. Steve Smith, GBT founder and TM Director of Player Development and Tennis Education, has made a life long study of tennis teaching masters and their methods. GBT, an assembled system of systems, is fact-based instruction for long-term player development and is supported by tennis enthusiasts and experts all over the world. Key components of the GBT are skill testing, documentation of development, core information based on scientific principles, peer teaching, and the building of a championship culture.
Program goals for the summer camp include:
- Check the checkpoints (Knowledge)
- Take Tennis Home (Practice)
- Form Tournaments (Skill Acquisition)
- Athletic Achievement (Fun)

In conjunction with tennis instruction, campers will take part in daily NJTL Life Skills lessons. Tennis racquets, equipment, balls, and water will be provided. Campers may bring their own racquet, towel, snack, and water. Periodic breaks will be taken.
If your camper is signed up for camp on a weekly basis and misses a day, the camper may attend a day of another week as a makeup. Unfortunately, there are no make up days offered for Summer Pass participants.
The NJTL Tennis Summer Camps are weather-dependent. The site coordinator will notify parents via Remind 101, Twitter, and Facebook by 7 AM the day of camp if conditions are too wet for camp to be held. You can click on the Twitter and Facebook icons to follow us and receive updates.
